Carrie Copeland has supported Birth Partners' clients as a birth doula,
postpartum doula and postpartum coordinator for the past fourteen years.
She is delighted to continue on in a role where she will have an
opportunity to offer her expertise to those seeking birth or postpartum care,
talking with each prospective client and skillfully matching them with their doula.
Committed to offering the same high standards of care that Birth Partners
has always been known for, she is here for you!
A mama to three wonderful children, she truly understands the importance
of finding the right support system for every client on their journey toward motherhood.
Janet Padgett began Birth Partners in 1990, after the birth of her children inspired her to help families have positive birth experiences. She was the first doula in Connecticut and the 17th in the U.S. to be certified through Doulas of North America (DONA) and has served as a member of the Advisory Board for The Birthplace at St. Mary’s Hospital, and Regional Representative for DONA.
Janet has been twice honored with the Midwifery Community Award from the Connecticut Chapter of the American College of Nurse-Midwives, recognizing her “for the facilitation of midwives in caring for women in the midwifery model of care through education and support of childbearing families and the promotion of midwifery in our community”. She was also the recipient of the Community Achievement Award from the National Association of Childbearing Centers and awarded the Trademark Women of Distinction, Honors Edition. Her plaque reads "For she had the will, believed in herself, and made history".
While Janet no longer is an active doula herself, she mentors and trains each of the doulas serving Birth Partners’ clients personally, and continues to teach Birth Partners’ comprehensive childbirth education classes. Janet enjoys speaking with each prospective client personally, learning about her and her needs, and matching her with precisely the right services and doula for her.
